Total Fabricator talked to Robin Squibb, MD of Clearview Glaziers to discover how the switch to Distinction Doors redefined how the company operates and the impact upon customer satisfaction.

Robin established Clearview in 2002 to meet the demand for high-quality uPVC and aluminium window and door products in the east of England.

Employing around 65 staff, the company manufactures many of its products in-house, including home improvement favourites like bi-fold doors and flush casement windows, alongside more commercial products such as curtain walling.

A trusted supplier to trade clients, Clearview also offers home surveys, delivery and installation via its in-house fitting team.

Switching to Distinction

Around three years ago, Robin was seeking a new composite door supplier after quality issues with leaking cassettes left the Peterborough-based business poorly supported.

“This was central to our decision to change door suppliers.  We have a varied customer base, operating across retail, trade and commercial sectors, and each have their own requirements and demands.  It’s imperative that we offer high quality products and service, consistently.

“We always strive to provide the best products available, and we were incredibly impressed with Distinction’s product quality and range.”

Since making the change, Clearview has fully-embraced the Distinction product offering taking the 44mm, signature, nxt-gen and fire door ranges, alongside glass, and paint and glazing services.  Robin also welcomed features such as the door-designer web tool and a listing on the valuable lead-generation tool – Distinction’s online showroom locator.

Doors for the nxt-gen

Clearview takes both Distinction’s standard and nxt-gen GRP composite door ranges, but the popularity of the nxt-gen doors was soon apparent.

“nxt-gen are our most popular doors, by far.  We transferred many of our trade and commercial customers onto nxt-gen early on, and they much prefer them.  The same goes for our retail and home improvement clientele.

“For retail, it’s all about the look.  nxt-gen is an eye-pleaser; it’s modern, with clean lines.  Our trade customers prefer it for the ease and convenience – there’s no cassette, for example, so if de-glazing is ever required, it’s much easier.”

Exceed demands

Alongside trade and retail customers, nxt-gen has also piqued the interest of Clearview’s commercial clients, most notably local authorities and housing associations.  “Some customers can be extremely demanding, and nxt-gen allows us to meet, and often exceed those demands.  We can offer tenant’s choice while adhering to the landlords’ requirements for weatherproofing, energy efficiency, security, sound insulation and maintenance.

“With nxt-gen we can give our clients, regardless of sector, all the options they need.”

nxt-gen

Distinction has seen continuous growth since launching nxt-gen in June 2017, this has been attributed, in part, to rising consumer interest in flush products.  The nxt-gen range includes six door styles, all with the flush-fitted beaded system and moulding, with another due to launch in early 2022.

Premium colours, including Chartwell and Anthracite grey are available as standard, while homeowners can choose from more than 20 bespoke colours or opt for any RAL/British Standard colour.

For security conscious homeowners and rigorous specifiers, the 44.5mm nxt-gen blank range also has proven specification requirements to meet the certification of PAS 24:2016, helping to support Secured by Design approved fabricators in manufacturing the ultimate enhanced security doorset.

Prepped and growing

When Clearview switched to Distinction Doors it didn’t just change composite door supplier, it also changed how the business operates, becoming a fully prepped customer from day one.

“Distinction offered us something different.  Buying from them is unlike any other customer/supplier partnership that I’ve experienced.  In the beginning I was impressed by this nice and neat operation, one which saved us both time and money, but I quickly discovered that the fully prepped service was transformative.  It is now integral to our business strategy and development.

“Distinction supply us with painted, glazed and high-quality composite doors, consistently.  With their service and support, we have grown this area of our business. Weekly door sales have increased five-fold and we have added a steady volume of fire doors.”
