Association of Door Manufacturers - Distinction Doors

Distinction Doors is an independent company, formed in 2005 in a joint venture with Nan Ya Plastics Corporation of Taiwan, a world leader in the plastics, chemicals and electronics industries.

Drawing on Nan Ya's massive research and development resources, the venture was established to introduce Nan Ya's GRP entrance doors to the UK market. The doors feature compression moulded and thermoset outer skins, water-resistant composite material stiles and rails and a CFC-free polyurethane insulating core. These make the door strong, stable, durable, secure and indiscernible from real wood. When glazed and hung, it has passed the rigours of PAS 23 and 24 with many fabricators and offers a superior alternative to other products on the market.

Distinction Doors' close association with Nan Ya has allowed them to develop a number of unique products to complement their doors such as snap-fit glazing cassettes which match the door for both colour and style.

The Company's 40,000 sq ft warehouse in Barnsley, just off Junction 36 of the MI, holds massive stocks of door blanks and cassettes and is equipped to pick and distribute these across the UK to suit customers' needs. The stockholding is constantly monitored to ensure Distinction Doors adapts to changing trends in colours and styles.

Drew Wright, Distinction Doors' Managing Director, has been working with Nan Ya since 1998 and has put together a team of people, hand picked from the industry, who understand the dynamics of the market and the need to adapt to constantly changing market requirements. The expertise within the company also provides an understanding of the problems facing fabricators and installers, particularly with regard to changes on the production line when introducing new products. Distinction Doors offer a solid support system, with training and back-up, to enable new entrants into the composite door market to experience a smooth transition.
